Nesty, nesty my nesty

Time is painfully slow right now and I'm not sure what to do with myself or Caden. So we are trying to stay busy by getting together with friends, pool, park, lunch and crafting!!

Here is the latest idea I found on the fabulous Internet. I love the craft blogs and they have so many ideas I can copy.

So, here is the bow holder I made. Just painted a gold frame, put fabric on the back and hot glued ribbons. I might move the ribbons vertical but we'll see we have nothing but time, right??

Or I just might hang it Horizontal??

The frame was $5 at Hobby Lobby. SCORE!!

And I thought why not try and make some bows, they are not fancy or very big but that's what I like. There are so many great tutorials out there teaching you how, so why not??

I could keep going because they are so easy but I don't have any other color ribbon right now and I want to try to make some other kinds of bows.

Drop it like its hott...

Caden like most kids loves music. He picks up lyrics really quickly too. His favorite songs to dance to right now are:

"All These Things I have done"(I got soul but I'm not a soldier)-The Killers.
he calls it the 'soldier song'

"Dont Trust Me"(Shush girl, shush your lips)- 30H!3
he knows the words very well to this song, a little embarrassing but hilarious at the same time, why does he pick up this song so easily??

"My Humps" (Spending all my money)- Black Eyed Peas

Here are some videos of him shaking his thing. It's quite entertaining to us but to friends it might bore you. But family you will love.

Is it August yet??

Well, we are trying to stay busy around here and help time fly by but its not quite happening.

Caden is obsessed with doing puzzles right now, which is great for everyone keeps him occupied I feel like a great mom and he can do them all by himself(except for the spider man one we bought and did NOT notice it said 500 pieces=yikes). He'll do the same puzzles everyday. Thank goodness for the dollar store I can buy cheap ones there. If you know of any other places that sell inexpensive but pre-school friendly puzzles let me know. I think this age is just the best, everyone says "you think two is bad, wait til three" And I totally disagree, he understands more, communicates more and he is just so much fun!!

Eric is doing great, he is doing a different job right now(works at the Battalion Office) than Drill so he is home all the time and works civilian hours. It is amazing! And we are so appreciative for the time we have together as a family.
Eric is getting more anxious to get out of the Army and start the rest of our life and finish his college education. We are so close we can taste it.

Me just pushing through trying not to hit the pregnancy wall. But, I did find these amazing Rainer Cherries(some call them Queen Anne Cherries) at the commissary. Hallelujah! When I was in Junior High a good friend of mine Megan had a tree of these cherries in their yard and said they were getting rid of buckets of these. For free!! I was never a bing cherry fan but thought I would try these and mmmmmmmmmm. Not enough mmms mmmmmm, they are so good! Out west you can find them anywhere especially in UT they are in peoples yards. But out East these puppies are a fine delicatessen, and a little pricey but totally worth the splurge. Doesn't the picture make your mouth drool?

The Room

Well we are in our 34th week and it's crazy but I'm ready for her.
To meet her, to see how she looks like Caden, me or Eric.
To introduce her to her big brother.
To melt my strong husbands heart.
We are ready to welcome this little girl into our family BUT we will be patient and wait for her to grow stronger, bigger and healthier each day.

So for now we nest, here is her room

I really enjoyed sewing and putting this room together for her. I was able to sew things I never have before and I think it turned out pretty good.

God Bless America

We had such a great 4th of July weekend. Eric got super lucky and got a 4 day Wahoo!!

The 4th was great, our ward had a big BBQ with slip'n slide and a pool and TONS of great food, trust me I pulled the pregnancy card big time. It was great food and GREAT company. We were there for hours. I think Caden was swimming all but 20 minutes. He had a blast to say the least.

Came home to re-coup and had a excellent nap.

Then headed downtown to Columbus to see the fireworks with Cadens little buddy Olivia and her family the Israels and a new family in the ward that are just so cute and nice and have the curtest little boy. The kids had a great time together and Caden LOVED the fireworks. Olivia thought they were a little loud but I think appreciated the colors. We had a great spot too. Afterwards we went back to their house and shot off some fireworks we bought and did sparklers, which Caden didn't really like. But the rest of us sure did, what adult does enjoy spelling their name in sparkler?

Such a great day.

Love+Fireworks=Us

I'm about to tell you a story that has changed my life forever but please keep in mind I'm terrible at writing and it never sounds as good as when Eric does it.

It was July 4 2002 at my friend and I Lindsay were at the town park(Waukee, IA) and we were hanging out and she started talking/flirting with this guy Aaron well in return he invited to a party his friend was having.

We drive out to the country to this guys house and see a bunch of people in a hot tub singing Kenny Chesney's song "One bottle of wine and two dixie cups...." As I was standing on the side I saw him. Eric Slaughter thump, thump, my heart I had been wildly infatuated with this idiot Mormon boy that I had semi-dated but Eric slipped this turd of a guy out of my thoughts.

We talked I was told he had a girlfriend...of course. We watched Top Gun because that's what you do right? And finally after spending hours talking to this guy and starting pathetically at him.......I totally kissed him, I know I'm a home wrecker but it was worth it. And I gave him my phone number and said "Call me when your single".

I told my mom the next day that I met the boy of my dreams, that he had a girlfriend and that I kissed him. Yikes!! Who knew this boy would end of being the love of my life and the father of my children. I'm a lucky woman and love that 4th of July always reminds me of that night.

Not two eyes, just one

We started patching Caden's eye today.

For those that are a little bit behind Caden has Strabismus-basically one eyes muscle is not as strong as it should be so it wanders. By patching the good eye it strengthens the muscles of the bad one.

I'll be honest there is some bribing but right now we'll do what we need to do to keep it on and get him comfortable with it.
