It's been 3ish years...

I figure I ought to update the blog every couple years at least.

In the last 3 years we added a new member to our family, welcome June

We've moved here and there in Utah(don't want to get too specific because of the weirdos out there). And we are at a good place with good friends, we aren't at our forever house or Eric's forever job but it works right now.

Caden is in 3rd grade and is doing great, he goes up to 4th grade for Math. He still loves Shark and loves reading. He's missing a boat load of teeth and anxious to get them all back.

Macey is our wild performer. She's always this way or that. She loves to June to pieces sometimes a little too much. She's in preschool and is so anxious to join Caden at his school next year.

Eric and I are coming up on our 11th Anniversary and still love each other like crazy. No we aren't perfect but we work on it each day.

Macey's 2nd Birthday

This past August our sweet Macey turned 2. She was still pretty young and didn't quite get it. But had a good birthday none the less. On the left is Macey before her birthday party.  On the right is Macey on her actual birthday.

 So stinking cute! Right?
We had a birthday party at McDonald's for her and she loved it. She is such a funny little thing with so much sass. We love her and couldn't imagine life without her.

Macey with some of her birthday presents. On the left is a little princess cd player. And on the right with her kitty piano. She loves them both still.

On Maceys birthday Caden started Kindergarten. He was so excited and not one bit nervous. Can't say I felt the same. He did incredible the whole year and can't wait to start first grade.

Snow, Snow, Snow

Caden and Eric took advantage of the awesome snow that was dumped upon us. I think they made a pretty stellar snowman.

I think these boys are freaking adorable!

We took the kids to a tubing hill where they pull you up the hill. Caden had no fear, we had to convince Macey but once she went she didnt want to stop. It was a blast and we will go back next year.

We took the kids to a neighborhood park and went sledding. They had a blast. Macey and I went off a ramp I didn't see was there til we got to the end of the hill and flew. She didn't want to go much after that which I don't blame her.

Crazy Eye(s)

Ever since Caden was 9 months old we've noticed his eye's wander. He went to Walter Reed in DC and the monitored it. When we moved to Georgia the Opthamologist was a jerk and said come back when he can read the eye chart and knows his letters to do so. We took upon ourselves to patch his eye after researching online. When we moved to Utah we found a great opthamologist at Primary Children's Hospital. First he suggested glasses which helped but when he wasn't wearing glasses it got worse  as you can see from the right picture. Then they suggested patching with glasses everyday. As you can see from the pictures he did not enjoy it.

Well after months of patching they decided it was time to do surgery where they tighten the muscle to his eye. I was a nervous wreck about this surgery too much tightening and it'd wander in not enough and it still wanders out. Not to mention surgery people.

 <---This his him pre-op.

They have x-box's and all the games you could--> imagine. He was in heaven and wasn't even nervous. Also since he was the oldest he was scheduled last. He didn't eat all day and he didn't go into surgery til almost 3pm.

Him waking up it was so sad. He was really out of it. When they wanted him to open his eyes he screamed and cried. I felt awful. He eventually felt okay to go home on our 10 minute drive home he fell asleep holding his barf bag. Once we got home he perked up at 4 pieces of toast and a bowl of cereal.

All in all surgery was a success the worst part was the eye drops twice day he freaked with those everyday. I think the surgery corrected it significantly but it still wanders a little. We're pretty happy about it though.

Random, St. George and Zoo

Since it's been awhile your going to get a lot of randomness I want to remember. We went to get the mail one day and the kids were holding hands its moments like these that melt my heart into a pile of slush. These moments are far and few in between so when they happen I try to remember them.
In April my mom, sister Jennifer, sister Melanie and I took off without the kids and drove down to St. George. My sister Jenn's in-laws have a home there and are so generous to let us stay for the weekend, how nice is that? Anyways we left kids minus baby Kennedy and drove with tons of sewing projects. And to say we concured them that weekend was an understatement. We were so busy but we took time to chow down some, lay out at the pool and shop at a randomly awesome Ace Hardware that has crazy amounts of good cheap fabric. And Melanie and I went running twice with a total of 9 miles. Thats what happens when you can't sleep in because you've had this alarm clock for over 5 years waking you up everyday. It was blast and I hope we can do it again sometime and hopefully have the other two sisters.

We have an awesome zoo pass. And go whenever we have a chance to. We went with my  great friend Christy and her kiddos.

Macey on the Carousel she loved it and could probably go over and over again.
It was big decision to Caden as to which animal to ride. Obviously the snake won this time.
Macey found a Tiger to conquer

Here is the whole gang. Great picture right?
My two little amigos.

Dress Up

Macey has discovered princess's. Its her new love. Rapunzel is by far her favorite. And when Caden is being nice he'll hold maceys hands and she'll sing "I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream"

My only complaint is come on disney why do the movies need to be locked in the vault. Who knew I'd have a girl and now I can't buy great movies like cinderella because there locked in the vault...HAHA

Its July but here's Easter SURPRISE!

For Reals people Easter 2012. I can't say I was super prepared with awesome outfits etc. But we did what we could and they looked pretty cute. Taking pictures of the two of them near impossible.
We all gathered at my mom's house(your going to see me write that a lot) and had a easter egg hunt and some delicious food.

We hid the baskets and they got them after church. I like the tradition of hiding them somewhere this year it was in our closet. They thought it was a blast looking for them. I should have blogged sooner because now drawing a huge blank about easter. Awesome mom of the year!
                                                          She likes to scowl sometimes

Crazy Hair

Holy Toledo I'm back in business. Thought I'd try it out again and pictures are working. I have a lot of catching up to do. But here is some crazy pictures of my children with humidity and their hair.

Summer Update

Update time again. Things are a moving and a shaking in the Slaughter household.

Eric- Is still going to school like a mad man. He will earn his bachelors this August. WAHOO!  Within a week he will start the MPA program at the University of Utah. He's still working and is always looking for something full time and permanent that he can hopefully transition to after school. We are so proud of him and all that he does for us. He also signed up for the Tough Mudder race in October 10 miles and 25 obstacles one including electric fence. He's crazy but I love him.

Me-I got a little crazy and decided to sign up for a sprint Triathalon. I knew if I wanted to get my butt in gear I had to commit to something. So August 18th I'll be swimming 300M, Biking 12miles and running 3.2 with my sister Melanie. It will fun, uh, I hope so. I love being able to stay home with my kiddos. Its been really funning learning to swim like an adult is what I say. It's hard work, I think just as hard as running.

Caden-Finished kindergarten and loved it. He's so anxious for 1st grade. Who doesnt want lunch and 3 recesses? I, on the other hand, am super nervous for him to be going full time-all day. Sad, but it will also allow Macey and I to go and do more things. Caden is  a crazy good reader and excellent at math. He is playing Machine pitch baseball this summer and continuing swim lessons. He loves it.

Macey-Is so funny she has so much personality and spunk. We started potty training her this week and to be honest she has KILLED it. I'm blown away. A little nervous now that I mention how good shes doing the earth is going to open up laugh at me and make it all go away. But she really is doing amazing. I said to Eric if Macey was this easy with everything else I'd already be pregnant again. HAHA. She starts preschool this September and is very, very excited. I also promised her I'd sign her up for dance if she could pee in the potty. So looks like Macey will start ballet this fall.  Can you hardly wait for the chubby thighs in the tights and leotard?  I can't.

I figure til I can figure out pictures I'll keep updating.

We have moved to Herriman which is right near Riverton/Draper area and it is really nice. Like a little suburbia which is kinda nice when you have kids.

We are renting a nice townhouse and our ward seems pretty nice. It's baby central there, our first Sunday there we had 4 baby blessings.

Kids seem outrageously happy to have their own rooms and space. It was nice to live with my parents but I think it was just time for us to have our own space again.

I'll do a breakdown of the family:

Macey is doing great since surgery. You can tell she is hearing so much better she is trying to repeat words so much more and we are starting speech therapy tomorrow, which will be nice. She's becoming girlie which is pretty fun at the pumpkin patch we went to they had a princess area where you can put on dress's and dance on a stage and she went CRAZY...she loves princess's now and it was right up her ally. She is so stinking strong we call it freak strong. The other day at my parents house my mom said she was doing forward roll after forward roll. My mom asked had we been practicing it, we haven't she just figured it out. Funny girl.

Caden is growing up and I wish it would stop. He is at school and its funny the things he picks up:

"Mom do you know you can talk just by saying letters like "OMG" says oh my gosh." So the rest of the day he'll say "Mom IWAJ" I'm confused. He'll say "Mom I want Apple Juice"

We had the missionaries over for dinner last night and if you live in Utah that's kind of a rarity.Caden was dying to tell them a couple things they were:
-We drove to Iowa it took 15 hours one way and 12 the other and he threw up 2-3 times.
-He tried Root Beer
-He wanted to show them his Angry Birds
I thought it was funny

Me-Adjusting to life always changing. Trying to make new friends in our ward.

Eric- going to school kicking butt. I'm so proud of him and I got so lucky marrying a guy like him where school just comes to him like that. And he's working which is going well. He works with a guy who is 65 and really nice. I think he's becoming Eric's Best friend and I make fun of him about it but its cute.

That's all for now I will update with pictures when I can get them cleared off Picasa.

Christmas

****If you want to see the pictures bigger just click on them to see them closer***

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. As always Caden was obsessed with Polar Express and was very concerned about being asleep when Santa comes, not so much the being good but he tried. Macey just came along for the ride.

This year I decided to be very ambitious and sew it up. I wanted to make stockings that would last us for years and I am very pleased with them. They look scrappy yet traditional. I hand stitched the names on them. They were really fun to make.

She knew she was adorable and was just eating it up at Church.

The children in their sunday best. I got Macey's last year on clearance and it had fur that I actually took off. They are so adorable!!

Caden always gets so spoiled by his Grandma and Grandpa Connie and Larry from Iowa. This year was no different he as you can tell loved all his presents from them.

Christmas Jammies they were both so cute. Macey was walking around with a bell on her neck all night.

Christmas Morning Caden was so excited and Macey...fast asleep and we left her that way. I dont think she woke up til 9:30. Caden was ecstatic to open EVERYTHING.

Everyone came over for presents and a big delicious dinner. It's near impossible to get all of them looking.

Caden's Super Mario Party

***If you want to see the pictures closer, click on it to make it better
I know I am so behind but better late then never right???

Caden everyear has a different obsession this last year was Super Mario Bros.
So of course we went with that for his birthday party. He really wanted all his cousins, school friends and bradley to be there.

Here he is opening his presents from us on his actual birthday

I made Mario hats for the boys and bought tiaras for the girls. They started coloring pictures first and then we played some games. If you dont know much about Mario they wont make sense.

1st game was Musical chairs and you could sit in the chair if it had a M or L but if there was bad guy spikey your out and when your out you go get gold coins

2nd game Carry yoshi's Egg. We hard boiled an egg and they had to carry it around the chairs and when they were done they could get gold coins.

3rd was Ghost. Like Red light Green light. If the Ghost was looking red light if he wasnt go for the end line and get gold coins.

4th game was like hot potatoe but hot fireball.

At the end the kids received gold Stars

Then we had cake and cupcakes. Caden wasnt biggie cupcakes and 1-up cakes. My mom had cookie cutters from the 80s that were super mario so we made sugar cookies out of them and then we got chinese box's to make ? mark goodie bags. Overall I think it went well some hiccups but Caden had fun.
